A Few Rambles
Sad, the simple joy of getting a different keyboard to use at work. The joy of how smooth the new keys type compared to the old ones. How it recognizes every stroke of every key and does not ignor letters or refuse to type anything at all for a few seconds. It’s these small things that can make the day better. I find it so, so sad when office supplies can make or break my day and play with my emotions. This is what my life is? Really? This can’t be it, I must be meant for more. On a happy note, I finally settled on a pseudonym and don’t you just wish I would tell it to you? You’ll have to wait until I feel it is ready to be revealed. I began writing again last night, the excitement of stumbling upon the name, a story about a street performer named Switch and her mate Peter. I don’t know where it’s going, I haven’t planned it out, Switch seemed to be telling me her story. I’m just going to follow her around for a little while.
Tonight, Tracy and I plan to go around the monthly/semi-monthly Gallery Stroll a bit dolled up being catty bitches making fun of bad art, where there is bad art. We’ll, of course, appreciate the good stuff, but there’s not usually an abundance of good art around. We’re terrible people, we know this, we think it’s funny, deal with it. Then it’s to the studio for some live Tunewrecker music and candy booze.
Knowing that tonight will be awesome makes working today that much more difficult. I want it to be 6pm already. I want to clock out and meet my beautiful friend downstairs and begin making fun of the things trying to be called art.

Boo, I Hate You, Creative Block.
I’m still struggling to come up with an idea for the flip book I want to do for hitRECord for Sundance.I keep trying to doodle at work hoping that something will spark, but alas, nothing has yet. I’ll keep trying.

We received this fax at work yesterday morning. It is simply outrageous and ridiculous. You could also use the word “ludicrous” to describe this thing. #ldsdiscrimination

This will be so cool. I had wanted to do a flip book animation for 11/11, but nothing came of it. Now I can try to prepare a not last minute one for Sundance! If you’re not very familiar with me, I’ve been to Sundance for the last five years. I feel at home there amongst the creative filmakers and artists. It is the first place I felt like I fit in. It is why I moved to SLC. This is going to be so amazing.

The REGULARITY Is Near #3 - New Frontier
The bad news is, our new website isn’t finished yet. But I’m still kicking off a weekly RECording entitled The REGULARITY to direct our collaborative creative process.
The good news is…
We’re going to SUNDANCE! Yes, hitRECord.org is playing Sundance 2010. We’re setting up a workshop at the New Frontier on Main Street. We’ll have cameras, microphones, computers, an internet connection. And you! We’ll be collaborating with the creative community of Park City next January. Come play!
Over the span of the 10 days of the festival, we will start and finish a complete work of art. A veritable Hit Record. Something we all make together: me, you, artists of Sundance and the entire hitRECord global online collective. And when we’re done, it screens.
I’ll repeat that. What we make together is going to screen at the Sundance Film Festival. Wanna be a part of it? You are.
The REGULARITY Is kicking off now-ish. And this is what we’re buckling down getting ready for. January 21-31 at one of the coolest, highest profile, and genuinely artful creative happenings in the USA.
Now let’s get to work…!

My 11/11 hitRECord Project Fail
I really wanted to make a flip-book animation for the 11/11 project for hitRECord, but no ideas came to me. I’ll just have to work on it for the site anyway even though it won’t be up for 11/11 tomorrow. I need to come up with something to animate, a little story. I used to do this when I worked the box office at a 22-plex movie theatre alone on weeknights. It was really boring and we had these little one-sided advertisements for our combos in concession. I mean boxes of them, and they were small and rectangular, perfect for flip-books. I even made a deck of cards once to play solitaire. Now I want to make one and film it, but I can’t think of anything to animate. Curse you, writer’s block!! You’re even attacking my art now!!

Hang me from a hook through ribs,
leave me here to die.
Click the camera, ink the nibs,
rather art than rot for I.
